8 Features to Expect From the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is expected to be one of the biggest flagship launches next year. While there is a ton of speculations around the phone, rumors suggest that it is set to be the most innovative AI-powered phone to date. Even though the company maintains a cloud of mystery for its next launch, here’s what some reputable leaked sources have shared regarding features users can expect from the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

1. Display
According to one news report, all three models of the Samsung S24 series – S24 (6.1-inch screen), S24 Plus (6.6-inch screen), and S24 Ultra (6.8-inch screen) – will feature LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) M13 AMOLED displays, with brightness up to 2500 nits. This will ensure color accuracy and sharpness. These specs were only seen in the predecessor Ultra variants. The phones are also expected to have a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and Gorilla Glass protection.

2. Processor
While exact details remain unavailable to the public, the Samsung S24 likely marks the return of Samsung’s Exynos chipset. However, since the S-series has been powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset, users may see a combination of Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for improved performance. Depending on the processor, the phone may feature an Adreno 740 (Qualcomm) or Mali (Exynos) GPU. It is also expected to run on the OneUI6 operating system based on Android 14.

3. Build
The S24 series is expected to have IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung has made considerable changes to the phone’s design as well. While the curved corners and flat sides are expected to remain for the S24 and S24 Plus, the S24 Ultra is likely to feature a new vertical frame design with flatter edges and prominent bezels. The S24 Ultra may also feature titanium side rails for a premium finish.

4. Security
In an increasingly digital world, privacy and security are non-negotiable. The Samsung S24 series is expected to have an in-display fingerprint scanner, apart from pin, pattern, and passcode settings to ensure customer security. The phones are also expected to feature a Knox Encryption, to ensure quality data protection against cyberattacks, data leaks, viruses, human errors, and more.

5. Generative AI
One of the most talked about features in the upcoming Samsung series is its AI capabilities. The S24 is expected to have features such as the ability to create stories or content based on a few keywords, online and offline text-to-speech Generative AI, and improved speech-to-text functionality.

6. Camera
The S24 series is most likely to host the same cameras as its predecessor. On the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus, users can expect a 50MP primary camera, with a 12MP ultrawide-angle sensor, 10MP telephoto lens, 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP front camera. The S24 Ultra, however, is expected to host a 1-inch bigger camera sensor, along with improved telephoto capabilities such as improved optics, upgraded zoom capabilities, a larger sensor, and a wider aperture for brighter pictures. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may also feature a hybrid zoom that can switch between 3x and 10x optical zoom for comfortable and quality picture-taking.

7. Battery
On the S24, users may find the same battery (3,900 mAh) as the S23 series, with 45W wired charging, as well as capabilities for wireless charging. The battery capacity of the S24 Plus may be increased from 4,700 to 4,900 mAh, while the S24 Ultra is expected to retain its 5,000 mAh battery.

New reports also suggest that the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra will see a brand new battery design – a stacked battery pack – to improve energy density by up to 10% without increasing the size of the phone.

8. Availability
The S24 series is expected to be unveiled to the public in January 2024. While the pricing also remains unknown, most tech experts expect Samsung to offer the phones at the current rates, that is, $799, $999, and $1199 for the S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra, respectively.

Whenever Samsung decides to launch the S24 series, customers are also likely to witness other drops, such as laptops, tablets, and other accessories. Many users are looking forward to an upgraded S Pen that will make room for more air actions as well as cross-device compatibility for efficient usage. However, the S24 series is expected to remain the highlight of the event – as the company’s new flagship product!
